Day 35- Seward

 July 16

It started raining when we went to bed last night and it was still going when we woke up.  Nothing hard, just steady.  The clouds were also very low.  We really couldn't see much of the mountain across the street.

We packed up for a cold, wet day.  Despite the weather we were all excited to see some sea life!

The parking lot was full but I managed to find a place although it was half in a mud puddle so I had the girls get out and make their way in.  Before I paid for parking I thought I'd check the forecast.  It called for  rain all day.  It showed sun for tomorrow though.

Most of the tour company's I've booked with on this trip have had a pretty generous reschedule policy so I decided to ask if we could change to tomorrow.

Typically reschedules are not allowed except for swells but they were nice enough to reschedule us for tomorrow.  Hopefully the weather will be better and we get to see lots of wildlife!

We decided to check out the Alaska Sealife Center.  After a quick stop for coffee, cinnamon roll and gift shop of course.

The sealife center was as great as everyone claimed it was.  Excellent displays, and a few live animal exhibits.

After we left I drove us along the shoreline for a bit on a B level road.  It actually led to another campground that I was considering.  It was right on the mouth of a river which would have been amazing views, but with all the rain it was a muddy mess.  Not to mention the rough potholed road to get there.

We got back to the camper and the girls made themselves lunch.  I laid down for a bit with the expectation of just resting for an hour or so and then we would go exploring a bit.  Unfortunately an hour was more like 3 and it was soon 5 pm.

Summer wanted to show me the play area so we went to do that.  After we went into the gift shop.  It had the normal KOA type things for sale.  I was shocked at all the items for sale that had the words Fuck and Bitch on them.  Even more odd was the Christian music being played in the background.  I'm no prude, but for a family oriented business, it just seemed like an odd collection of items to sell.

Since we were planning to be on the boat all day I had put a roast in the crock pot for French dip sandwiches when we got back.  They were delicious of course.

After dinner we all kind of did our own thing. Davan watched a movie, Heidi and I watched stuff on Hulu, Libby went to bed and Summer was just kind of all over.

Destruction Bay Redux

I alluded to a bit of a mishap when we boondocked near Destruction.  At the time I just wanted to put it behind me.  I was not sure I wante...
