Frustrations

I have to admit that there is apart of me that is really frustrated with this trip.  It just feels like there are a lot of minor annoyances that is working against me.

The lack of time to plan has really gotten to me.  The girls have such a busy schedule the only time I had to plan was after they went to bed.  When I was at the point I needed to choose where to go and where to stay I was up til midnight for several weeks researching and booking.

Over the last year I've been financially nickel and dimmed.  Nothing serious, but it's prevented me from really saving anything meaningful to put towards the trip.  I had a separate account in case I needed it but I was hoping to leave it as an emergency fund.  

I needed a death certificate to cross the boarder with the girls.  I had to submit one along with birth certificates for all of use to get passports last year.  They were returned and I put them in our safe deposit box at the bank.  I went on Monday to get it, but it was not there,  Odd, but figured it must be at home.  I couldn't find it there either.  Even more odd, is I made copies of it and birth certificates to put in our luggage when we went on our cruise.  I also have copies in my emergency go bag.  I should have also had copies in the filing cabinet as well.  All gone.  It makes no logical sense that everything was missing.  The only thing I had was a photo I keep on my phone.  Most I talked to said that along with our passports should be fine, but with my luck I'd get the one border guard with a power trip and not let us in.  Luckily I got one Tuesday but I had packing to do and didn't need the stress of dealing with getting a copy.

Tonight was the real kicker though.  I replaced the HVAC about 2 months ago.  It was still working fine however the condenser fan would squeal every now and again all last summer.  I tried to find a replacement fan and came up short.  I could have had just the fan replaced but at 20 years old, I didn't want to spend alot only to have the system fail.  My cousin is housesitting and I didn't want him to have to deal with having to repair or replace it while I was gone.

Of course I had just unhitched at the campsite tonight when I received a text that there was no hot water and there was a pool of water under the water heater.  Just what I need another however much for that after I just had to finance $16,000 for the HVAC.  

Baxter Comfort installed my system, in fact they put in a new system at the mill when we did our renovations a few years back.  A quick call and I'll have a quote by morning.  They did an excellent job on my HVAC and their service after the sale at the mill has been excellent so even though I'm sure they will be a bit more than other places there is some comfort in knowing they will take care of me and I won't have to worry about it while I'm gone.

It still sucks that 2 days into our trip and I have a major home repair that I need to deal with.
