5 hr 31min drive time
29 gallons of gas
Stayed at Tok RV Village
Today was not the best day. It started out cold and rainy and that was pretty much the theme of the day.
We had some issue and didn't get on the road until roughly 4. Since the weather was crap and we started out so late the plan was to push straight through and get to Tok.
Over the last few weeks the road from Destruction Bay to Tok have been talked up on Facebook that it had frost heaves that would launch you 10 feet in the air and pot holes that would swallow your camper. It wasn't the best road in the world but it also did not live up to the hype. Still, there were places I had to slow down drastically and swerve around like I was on an obstacle course. Even still, I probably went way fast than I should have considering the broken wall. I was just exhausted and wanted to get tot he campground.
We had a fast stop at the Beaver Creek Visitors Center for bathroom and to collect our sticker. 15 minutes later we were back on the road.
The Boarder crossing was about 15 miles down the road. Again a smooth crossing.
Finally we were in Alaska! Everyone was pretty excited. All the build up over the last year or so and all of the trials we have had made it a really exciting moment!
We got to the campground and were set up about 8:45. Everyone has raved about Fast Eddy's which is just next door to where we are staying. Pizza is what we were after and it most defiantly lived up to the hype! Julie, our waitress was the best. She defiantly Mom'ed the girls when Summer decided to play musical chairs and Libby was being a bit of a grump. She was even so kind to comp our meal after hearing about our day. It really put a bright not on our shitty day.
Girls got showers when we got back and we all hit the bed.
North Pole is our destination tomorrow!!
