July 24
Our last night in Alaska. Which is fitting as Tok was our first night in Alaska.
We awoke to a heavy fog. So heavy that they were sounding a loud horn every 30 seconds or so. I suppose to alert any incoming boats of where the harbor was.
We got packed up in record time. We didn't have any lunch meat so had to run into town to get some. We also decided to grab an easy lunch. I've noticed that nearly every town has a Subway. Even if it was the only fast food place in town. We grabbed sandwiches to go and headed towards Tok. It was about a 4 hour drive.
We stayed at the same placed we stayed the first time we were here. We also had dinner at the same place as well.
I'm starting to feel a little sad that our trip is coming to an end. It's been such a great time.
I do have some decisions to make concerning the rest of the trip. I planned to go to Jasper. However a severe fire started a few days ago. Last night the town was evacuated and today the fire overtook the town.
Before someone considers me insensitive, this blog is about our travels, so while I feel bad about the fires, I'm going to stay on topic.
Need to figure out how to reschedule our trip to keep my existing reservations and travel plan.
